The Sunday List {August 22, 2010}
The Sunday List is back! Here’s what I’ve discovered in the first week since we’ve had internet access again:
- Whoopie Pies. An entire book devoted to them. And a yummy post at Bakerella (accompanied with pictures, of course) detailing her first batch. Mmmm.
- While we’re talking food, I’ll go ahead and mention Canelle et Vanille, a stunning food blog I stumbled across this week. Former Ritz-Carlton chef Aran Goyoaga is now a stay-at-home mom, but still nurtures her love for cooking. Her recipes look tasty and her photography will make you drool. I think I want to be a food stylist/photographer now, thank you.
- Every Friday, Julia of Hooked on Houses posts about houses from movies and tv. My favorites are Meg Ryan’s dwellings as Annie in “Sleepless in Seattle” and Kathleen Kelly in “You’ve Got Mail,” as well as Barton Cottage in “Sense and Sensibility.” The bad real estate photos are also great entertainment!
- I didn’t just find this dress this week, but I absolutely love it. I bought it at JCPenney just in time to wear to my bridal shower – and then to our rehearsal dinner. (Okay, and I’m wearing it now.)
The photo of the week is from our wedding. Thank you, Caroline!

The Sunday List {June 27, 2010}
- Isn’t this framed chalkboard gorgeous? I love the juxtaposition of the simple, unrefined chalkboard with the ornate frame.
- These recipe tea towels from Mozi are the perfect blend of functionality and whimsy. I also like their red wren tea towel (try saying that five times fast).
- I wandered across this hand-knitted lace shawl today and immediately taken with how delicate, feminine, and soft it appears.
- This week I discovered photographer Jaime Delaine and have fallen in love with her work.
- This beautiful dress is definitely out of my budget, but it’s so pretty that I don’t mind just looking at the photos.

The Sunday List {June 6, 2010}
- Isn’t this Soda Fountain dress just adorable! It’s available at ModCloth in four different colors, but I think the raspberry and grape are my favorites.
- The Secret Recipe blog is updated weekly with copycat recipes based on the foods found at popular restaurants around the country. It’s not soup season yet, but once autumn comes ’round, I’ll definitely be giving Panera Bread’s Broccoli Cheddar soup a try!
- Did you see that I’m giving away a box of goodies here at Honey and Cheese? All it takes to enter is a comment on the giveaway post.
- This DIY picnic canopy from This Old House looks like a simple weekend project to lovely-up a backyard eating area.
- This blog series about eating on $1 a day is fascinating. The writer took on the challenge of grocery shopping and eating with just a $1/day average, after a debate with his sister about whether or not it was possible. He started with absolutely nothing in his pantry (not even salt and pepper!), and he frequently admits to a grave lack of cooking skills, so his first month’s worth of meals were very repetitive, but it was interesting to see what he was able to come up with, and I was actually surprised at how healthy he was able to keep many of his meals – he never went a day without fresh fruits and veggies.

- These cake stands by Clara French Ceramique look good enough to eat. I’ve been drooling over them all morning.
- Have you always dreamed about creating your own chocolate bar? Well, now’s your chance. Ghiradelli Intense Dark is holding a contest to find a new flavor.
- Papier Valise is an online boutique for vintage and vintage-esque notions, paper goods, and other goodies to delight any crafter.
- Because the kitchen in our new house leaves much, okay, pretty much all, to be desired, I get to start almost from scratch in deciding how it will look. This kitchen from All You magazine is the look I’m aiming for.

- How’s Your Weekend is a blog designed to help people around the world share their weekends with one another through photos (and sometimes a brief description). You can submit your own weekend to share with the How’s Your Weekend readers.
- If you like vintage and one-of-a-kind items for your home, you might want to take a peek at Sadie Olive. This online boutique carries beautiful vintage finds – and they’re all exquisitely photographed. If you appreciate the photography, be sure to check out Sadie Olive Photography.
- Kojo Designs has a tutorial on how to make a tea wreath – both practical and cute.
- This isn’t a new discovery, but it’s such a fabulous one that I wanted to share it anyway. The Bright Side Project is a giveaway blog with a new contest every day (yes, every day!). What makes this little sunshiney spot so wonderful though, is that you have to answer a very thought-provoking question in order to enter. I love reading the other answers when I visit!

Where’s the pause button?
Just when I think life can’t get any busier, something else sneaks in and adds itself to my calendar. I’m in the midst of planning a dance recital and a wedding, while trying to buy a house. In the meantime, I’m the registration coordinator for a large convention (10,000 people), and attempting to edit and send out photographs for the shoots I did in April. And this weekend alone I have a wedding, three graduations, and a dance recital (not the one I’m running) to attend. Oh, hopefully we’ll be closing on our house. Can I please press the pause button?
Please forgive the lack of posts at this particular point in time. Something’s gotta give. And right now, that something is blogging. Oh, and my bedroom. It looks like a Goodwill donation center right now.
Until I find that magic remote that pauses everything so that I can catch up to my own life, I will be running around on fast forward, trying to make sure I don’t let too many things fall through the cracks. But consider Honey and Cheese on pause for a few more days. But I’ll make it up to you this weekend; I’ve got a nice Sunday List in the works. So please stay tuned – we’ll be right back after the break!
The Sunday List
- A friend of mine recently introduced me to the blog, Young House Love – “two young people falling in love with their first house.” (And with their first baby!) It’s fabulous.
- This skirt from JCPenney is currently on sale. And I can personally attest to its comfort – and its beauty. It’s a perfect piece for a summer wardrobe – dress it up with heels and a cute blouse, or dress it down with flip flops and a solid tee. Hurry though – they’re running out. (I could only get the pink combo in my size, or else I might have gotten one of every color!)
- One of these I’m going to try making doughnuts and The Pioneer Woman’s recipe looks like a good place to start. Her beautiful mostly-step-by-step photos and conversational instructions are definitely a plus.
- These stamps are probably my favorite that the USPS has ever printed. And they go perfectly with my wedding colors/theme! (Yes, I just bought many dozens.)
