It’s Universal Letter Writing Week!
{via}
Today marks the beginning of Universal Letter Writing Week (January 8-14), one of my favorite “holidays.” It’s always such a good reminder to send someone love with a postmark. To kick off the week, I thought I’d link up the posts I shared last year.
Day 1 – A Short History of Stamps and Their Language
Day 2 – Who Do I Write To? What Do I Write About?
Day 3 – Letter Writing “Extras”
Day 4 – Read Someone Else’s Letters
Day 5 – Tell a story . . .
Day 6 – Write a Letter to a Stranger
Sari & Elephant Inspired Nursery
In case you haven’t heard yet – we’re having a baby! Our little house doesn’t have a second bedroom, so the “nursery” will be little nook in the corner of the office/craft room/library. But a girl can still dream about decorating, right?
Of course, I had to go and fall in love with a decorating scheme that’s completely unconventional for a baby’s room. But that just means I’ll get to challenge myself to make a mobile, blankets, etc. Not a bad challenge at all. (And with sari fabrics becoming more popular in the US lately, I don’t have to cut up any of the ones I have for wearing in India.)
All these images were found on Pinterest. I’ve got them ‘pinned’ to a nursery inspiration board, so if you want to see more information on any of them, you can click through my board.
The Many Uses of Chalkboard Paint
One of my most popular posts is this one, where I linked to several different chalkboard walls posted around the web. Since that seems to be something a lot of y’all are interested in, I thought I’d expand on the idea of chalkboards and highlight more uses of chalkboard paint.
Oh, and if you’re like me and can’t stand the feel of the chalk or the way it sounds when you write with it, you may be interested in chalk pens.

Have you joined Pinterest? Have you decided it’s not your cup of tea? Jumped in with both feet? Never even heard of it?
Pinterest is like an enormous, “living,” communal cork board. When you find something online that you want to remember – a recipe, craft project, beautiful image, quote – you “pin” it to one of your boards. Other people can see it and “re-pin” it onto their boards, and you can pull it up whenever you want to take another peek. You can browse through the main page of ever-changing pins or search for something specific, like cheesecake recipes or elephants. (Yes, I really do have an entire elephants board.) It’s a fun way to discover new ideas and inspiration, though, like anything else, it also comes with its own dose of “dangers.”
Here’s a humorous, but true, definition of Pinterest that I found, well, on Pinterest.
So do you pin? Are you testing the waters? If you’re considering giving it a try or you’ve already covered up a few boards of your own, I invite you to take a peek at what I’ve collected so far. It’s an eclectic combination, which is just how I like it.
that’s where all the love is . . .
I am completely loving this simple but genius idea from Color Me Katie. If you like to document life in photos, you should definitely pop over to her blog and read this beautiful suggestion.
