Freebie Friday {November 5, 2010}

27 tubes of Colgate toothpaste - These were on sale at Kroger this week for $1.50, and they were included in the Buy 10 Save $5 promotion they were running, which made them each $1 when I bought 10 participating items. I had gotten a hold of 30 SmartSource coupon inserts from this week, so I had lots of $1/1 Colgate coupons. (I’m giving away a couple of the coupons, so I only used 27.) That made all that toothpaste free!

I got these at two different Kroger’s, and I did not go out the first day of the sale and wipe them out – I made sure there were still plenty left for other shoppers.

Half the toothpaste is going to Operation Christmas Child, some of it will be going to the local domestic violence program, we’ll keep a little bit, and some of it is going to various family members.

6 cans of Cream of Chicken soup - These were included in the promo as well, at $0.50 each when you bought 10 participating items. Since I had 2 $1.50/3 coupons, these were free. (I bought 4 other items that were already on my grocery list to bring me up to 10, so I didn’t spend any extra to get these.) We use this in casseroles, so I plan to keep all of it.

StoveTop stuffing & Pepperidge Farm cookies - I bought these in one transaction, along with 7 of the toothpastes. That brought the cost of the stuffing down to $0.75/box and I had a coupon for $1/3. The cookies were on sale for $2.27 with a peelie mail-in-rebate on the front. My total was $4.52 + tax, and I used a $3 catalina I had received for buying some spices last week. That brought my total down to just $1.61. What will make all of it free is that when I submit the rebate I’ll receive either $2.27 (the cost of the cookies), or $3.39 (the regular price of the cookies). I’ll make back the entire $1.61, plus a little extra to help with, or cover completely, the cost of the stamp.

(Lest you think we only eat processed foods, this is not all that our diet consists of!)

Freebie Friday {October 22, 2010}

Brach’s Candy Corn - This is actually from last week, but I forgot to include it in the picture, so I tossed it in this week. I got it at CVS when the coupon machine was spitting out $1 off coupons for the candy corn. Since the candy was only $0.99, I got it free.

5 boxes of Ronzoni Garden Delights pasta – On sale 5/$5 at Food Lion. There were blinkies on the shelf for $1/1, so I grabbed 5 and got these all free. We’ll keep one box and donate the rest to a local battered women’s program.

4 small bottles of Gain - This deal has been going for awhile. The $1/1 bottle of Gain coupons have been in the last couple P&G coupon inserts and I was able to get my hands on several copies. The dishwashing soap is just $0.97 at Wal-Mart, which made these free. We don’t have a dishwasher, so I’ll keep a couple bottles for our dishes, and give the other ones to the battered women’s shelter.

Banana Walnut Bread granola bar - This was a free sample through Walmart.com – it’s going in a gift basket.

Crest toothpaste sample - Free from Vocalpoint. Also going to the battered women’s shelter.

Not pictured, because I left them in the back seat of the car and my husband was at work (and therefore the car was gone) when I was taking the photo:

Bufferin aspirin - This was free at Walgreen’s this week. On sale for $2.99, plus I had a $3/1 coupon from the paper. Since we just got a free bottle of Advil last week, I will probably donate this.

Bath & Body Works lotion - I used a coupon for a free travel-sized bottle of a Signature Collection item with any purchase. I have a gift card to BBW from my bridal shower, so I purchased a couple of small things for a gift, and then got my Orange Sapphire lotion for free. This is lotion I keep in my travel toiletries bag and it’s almost gone, so this was great timing!

Bath & Body Works lip gloss - Okay, forgive me, I can’t recall which line it is. But it’s the vanilla mint stuff and it smells really good. I also got this with a “make any purchase and receive a gift” coupon. This time the gift was a lip item of my choice. I bought two reusable shopping bags from BBW and then got the lip gloss free. Again, since I had the gift card already, this really was absolutely free to me.

I also got 2 more $5 Amazon gift cards from Swagbucks this week. :) I’m nearly halfway to my goal of purchasing another set of OXO Good Grips storage containers for absolutely nothing out of pocket!

Deal Alert: Peaches for $0.50/lb. at Wal-Mart

{image copyright Annie B}

I don’t know about other parts of the country, but peaches are currently $0.50/lb at the Wal-Marts around here. This week I just bought a handful – mostly for eating, but I also attempted homemade peach tea this afternoon and I’m going to try baked peaches for dessert tonight.

If they’re still that cheap when I go shopping next week, I’m planning to stock up and freeze a bunch. I’d also like to try my hand at canning. Home-canned peaches will be good when peach prices go back up, and peach butter or honey, and peach preserves sound yummy. Hopefully the prices stay that low until I get back into town!

Deal Alert: Ronzoni Pasta at Food Lion

food lion ronzoni pasta deal

Food Lion currently has Ronzoni pasta on sale 2/$1.48 and Ronzoni has a mail-in rebate for $3 when you buy 6 boxes. This breaks down to: $1.48 x 3 = $4.44 (plus tax).

Add in $0.44 for your stamp to mail the rebate in, and you’re at $4.88 (plus tax), but you’ll be getting a $3 rebate, making those 6 boxes of pasta only $1.88.

Now, if your Food Lion has the Quick Cook pasta with peelies on them for $0.50 off, you’ll be able to get an even better deal. Buy 3 of the Quick Cook pastas, and then 3 more boxes of Ronzoni and your total will be $4.44 – $1.50 = $2.94 (plus tax).

Once you mail in the rebate, you’re at $3.38 (plus tax), and then you’ll get back $3.00, making your total for 6 boxes of pasta just $0.38. Not bad.

If you can find the $0.55/1 printables from Coupons.com, you’ll be able to get an even better deal!

{Note that the 2/$1.48 is for the regular Ronzoni pasta, not the Smart Taste or Healthy Harvest. These are not whole-wheat pastas.}
