the beautiful ordinary {5 Minute Friday}

We write for 5 minutes flat.

No extreme editing; no worrying about perfect grammar, font, or punctuation.

Unscripted. Unedited. Real.

Today’s word is ordinary. You can join in or read more Five Minute Friday posts over at Lisa-Jo’s blog.

Everyday moments. Those little things we take for granted. Him putting away the groceries, or laying out the baby’s bedtime necessities. The way little one’s hand creeps up to hold mine while he’s drinking his bottle. The lying there in the darkness, the middle of the night stillness, watching them sleep while my mind wanders the canyons and rivers of thoughts that daytime leaves me no time to think. The kicks and dancing of the new one, still felt from the inside, his clock set opposite mine. Beautiful ordinary moments that make life a little more . . . extraordinary.

“But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.” Luke 2:19
