Eye Level Books

Did you know that this is Children’s Authors and Illustrators Week (CAIW)? I didn’t either until this morning. But I think this is a holidayweek worth celebrating! To start, I want to share a website with y’all.

Eye Level Books is a website that reviews children’s books from a Christian perspective. It’s run by my friend Shanna, whom I met before she had any kids and now has a houseful of little boys!

Shanna has reviewed hundreds of children’s books for all different age levels and is continually adding new reviews. She has covered picture books like If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and All Things Bright and Beautiful, chapter books such as Jacob Have I Loved and the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and everything in-between.

You can browse the site for reviews for a particular title or author, a specific age range, or only those with a certain rating. And if you’re curious about how books “earn” their stars, check out Shanna’s explanation of her rating system. She also links to various resources and has several essays that pertain to children’s literature.

If you’re interested in her book reviews, go ahead and leave a comment on the Eye Level Books website or like her Facebook page. (Coincidentally, today is Shanna’s birthday! What a great way to celebrate CAIW and leave her some birthday cheer. :) )
