elephants and handkerchiefs

As promised, I’m bringing back Thrift Store Thursdays, but I’m not hosting it here. Instead, the link-up will be over at Living Big on Little (my savings & thriftiness blog) and I’ll just add my posts to the blog hop there.

My finds for this week are actually from early November (I haven’t been thrifting much lately, and I have some older discoveries that I haven’t shared yet).

Back in the fall, we went on our annual girls’ trip to visit my grandma in Pennsylvania. We always spend at least one day going to flea markets, thrift stores, and antiques malls. This year my aunt played tour guide and took us to some spots we hadn’t been to before.

At one particular indoor flea market, I stumbled across this cast iron elephant. There were two of them, but the first one looked lots older than the one I purchased, and cost several dollars more. Since I bought it to put in the babies’ future India & elephant inspired nursery, I wasn’t worried about its antique value. I’m probably going to scrape it down and spray paint it a fun color. {$8}

One of the sellers had a basket of vintage handkerchiefs and I picked up these two lovelies to send to a friend. {$1.75}

 I also made another purchase while we were at that shop, but I’ll share that in a week or two.

Have you been thrifting or antiquing lately? Did you take home any treasures?

I’m linking up at . . .
